Celebrated architect Frank Gehry describes how he conveys "movement" as a quality of his architecture.
-----
Frank Gehry, in conversation with Thomas Pritzker, talks about his long and distinguished career as one of the world's best known modern architects as part of the 2009 Aspen Ideas Festival.
He details the design philosophy behind some of his most famous buildings including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California. - Aspen Institute
Frank Gehry is an architect and founder of Gehry Partners, LLP. Gehry has built an architectural career that has spanned five decades and produced public and private buildings in America, Europe, and Asia. Gehry's work has earned him several of the most significant awards in architecture, including the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize in Architecture, the Pritzker Prize, the Wolf Prize in Art, the Praemium Imperiale Award, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Award, the National Medal of Arts, the Friedrich Kiesler Prize, the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal, and the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal. Notable projects include: the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain; the DZ Bank Building in Berlin; Nationale-Nederlanden Building in Prague; and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and BP Bridge in Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois.
@WoordWerks Please tell me how it is you know so much about Gehry's personality, for example your statement about him mistreating people. I have actually been around Frank when he is interacting with his employees and I have never seen him do what you are describing. And I have also been at ceremonies honoring Frank and he is always self-effacing, not at all how you describe him.

Not everyone likes his building, all those curvy and expressive forms. But I actually like the 'inside' of his buildings. It's just overwhelming and truly beautiful.

Gehry has a genius both for inventive appropriation of forms and for breaking free of the orthogonal prison that describes so many modern buildings. He speaks of his fascination for fish (since his childhood). Their sinuous shapes prove that "free forms" can maintain structural integrity and logic. I've seen several of his best buildings in LA, Seattle, Berlin and Prague. They are almost always spatial adventures. This year I hope to visit the Bilbao.
Bravo Mr. Frank Gehry!!

no offense to what you said but it is what deconstructivist architecture showed us;the possibilities of pushing architecture forward, why are people so bothered of seeing an form altered building?is that how we saw architecture?architecture is not a box
