Do you have a worklog for this project somewhere? I think it's a pretty cool kit.

Look in the about (above), I went through most of the motor requirements there.

My thought as a parent - this person is either:

    - doing this for living,

    - unemployed,

    - really neglecting (their) children or

    - insomniac

I can't imagine how else he/she would complete in under 20 years until children move out.

No offense - I would really like to know how you managed to get the time.

I am dedicated to my twin girls. I work very hard at a full time day/evening job, and I stay up late at night. I also don't watch sporting events or play video games, so I think that is what gives me more free time then the average father.

this is so awesome :) Pretty amazing obstacle avoiding.

How long can it run on the batteries? And does it need much processing power or would a small power saving overclocked arm computer be fast enough for the image processing?

maybe it would be easier to steer if the wheel is attached to something ;)

Depends on how much weight you put in it. It will run easily for a couple of hours on 2 - 12V 7.5Ah SLA batteries. In the video shoot the real constraint was the laptop I had at the time would only run for an hour or so (old laptop). So that was the limit between recharges. I would only bother recharging the laptop and it ran easily through several laptop recharges.

I think you could run it with a Rasbery Pi, but I haven't tried. It seems to be more about handling the USB from the kinect.

The '80s called and they want their crappy synthesized music back. Also, 2005 called and wants its joke back.

    Otherwise, awesome idea.

I worked with children with wheel chairs that would run in to people and objects all the time. This would be a great tool for teaching and helping these kids. . Thank you for the inspiration.

I had this in my mind (the whole idea) just like this - 3 year ago but I didn't had money to realize it! :( Also...I had one more thing - to be able to drive it via wireless remote control - like toys :)

But also this - auto mode :)))

    Now...I am sad because I didn't make it :(
