This is a screen recording of sverx's LIBXM7 beta 0.59 demo, running on No$gba v2.6. The .XM player library is a neat freebie for DS developers as it runs on the ARM7 co-processor without taxing the main CPU.
The song Parallax Glacier, one of the demo's 4 songs, was made by me in MilkyTracker. It's pretty demanding on a player and while LIBXM7 doesn't yet support all .XM features, it already handles the module very nicely. The drum loop sample used in the song was downloaded from Freesound.org and it was recorded by Freesound/YouTube user Rutger Muller.
The video only shows the lower screen with the pattern and other song data. The upper screen is used to display channel scopes but since they are so other-worldly at the moment, I didn't bother with them.

Firstly, I don't blame you if the correlation between the music and the display seems vague in this video. Since we can only fit so much on the limited Nintendo DS screen(s), you're only seeing 4 channels (out of 16) at any given moment. A fabricated full view is available in the "Rhubarbarian" video on this channel.
Anyway, the Tracker's Handbook might help you make more sense of things. You can find it on the documentation page on MilkyTracker's website along with additional reading.
