"Looli" Women's Music Group / Montreal September 19-21, 2008

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Iranian Political Prisoner's massacre in summer of 1988 / http://www.1980smassacre.com/

"Women's Music Group" Looli performs songs based on texts written by political prisoners. The "My Companions" performance was inspired by the following texts: "Plain Truth" by Monireh Baradaran, "The Unequal Battle" by Nima Parvaresh, "Neither Life, Nor Death" by Iraj Mesdaghi and "And Still Lives Our Story" by Hassan Darvish.

The lyrics are based on a collection of political prisoners' poems compiled by Iraj Mesdaghi.
Combining music and prison songs allows Looli to recount a painful part of Iran's history.
