Verizon CMO John Stratton on 'Map' War With AT&T

NEW YORK (YouTube.com/AdAge) -- Even as his advertising offensive against arch-rival AT&T continues to be the talk of the industry, Verizon CMO John Stratton took to the podium to explain why the "Maps" campaign was necessary. In this seven-minute video, he recaps Verizon's entire nine-year marketing history. In it latest move, the company abruptly threw out its prepared holiday ad campaign to replace it with the results of a data survey it commissioned of its own and AT&T's national G3 footprint.

at&t may have the best phones but they dont do you a bit of good if they dont work everywhere that verizon does, your iphone may be a lot more fancier than my simple verizon phone but atleast i can make a phone call and it not get dropped.

@4everacartoon plz the only one fooling you is Verizon sucks so much i hate i tried to take a phone back that was befor the 30 days and they were like no you have to pay 250 dollers and i was like no way right there i called the manage4r he said the same thing even though the camercial was on right then i was like know what im donw i switchted that day Verizon SUCKS

Very well said! It is hilarious to find people actually believing what AT&T states about their map coverage. AT&T are indeed showing ONLY their digital coverage, NOT their 3G. Its AT&T that is lying to it's OWN customers.

I love Verizon for their network more so than the phones. Fortunately, I have the Droid, so all is perfect. ;-)

Absolutly not tru At&t coverage is not weak Verizon have lied so much and HAVE AND STIL DO HAV PENDING LAW SUITS AGAINST THEM SO MANYk, i wonder why?

OK so as you can see, everyone disagrees! Look at how many thumbs down you got! You see you must not be fooled by all this nonsense. Sure I will admit the iPhone looks nice, but it is not very good when you put it to the test in the real world. AT&T is fooling you by advertising digital coverage (talk and text). NOT 3G. A phone that actually works wherever you go is more important. That is why I am a very happy customer of Verizon!

See I know who you are...you are one of those people who make up things like these just to get people to agree. You are wrong. The coverage AT&T advertised is for digital coverage (talk+text). Not 3G. I have gone on the AT&T site and actually checked the tiny box that says only show 3G coverage. It matches Verizon's analysis. You see you can't be fooled by nice phones. It is the coverage that backs it up!

Your right why can't people get it through their heads that the network makes up the Phone, not how cool it looks. I would rather have a phone that works then a piece of crap from AT&T!

See you have to understand that your iPhone is CRAP without a good network. AT&T is not providing the services that allow you to use the web wherever you want. Droid, from Verizon, is just as good as the iPhone, looks cool, and works wherever. You see it is the network that makes up the phone, not how it looks. Sure the iPhone looks cool, but so does the Droid from Verizon. Now you can show your friends a phone that works!
