Hi there! My name is Nathan Stuckey and this is how stupid I'm prepared to look to gain a chance to see Top Gear Live in Birmingham!
My friend, my familly and I started thinking about ideas since the publification of the competition video and after many arguments and much chin scratching...came up with something that we decided, only 5 days away from the competition deadline, was totally impossible to do on stage.
We did some more "ummm"ing and "arrr"ing until, in true cinematic fashion, I came up with something 4 days away from the deadline. I quickly struggled into my Biologie lab coat and slipped my glasses on. Here's the result.
My idea is quite simple, give each of the Top Gear presenters a go-kart along with about 5000£ (a bit more if necesary, we didn't know what the show's budget would be like) and tell them to tune them as well as make them road legal, ready for everyday life.
We're talking about taking a standard pleasure vehicule and making it faster, look nicer and more practical. This will demand mechanical, visual and functional modifications from the presenters.
We came up with three mini-challenges which go as following:
1) The Visual Effect Test: using signs, the audience shall vote for thier favorite of the three modified go-karts (similar in the way that they would vote during a Live Cool Wall segment). This merely shows how good (or not a road legal go-kart could look.
2) The Practicality Test: each of the presenters shall have to transport various items from one side of a predetermined track to the other whilst under a time limit and the one who had dropped off the most items at the end of the challenge wins. The one who can transport the most items at one time using his go-kart will obviously have the greater advantage however speed will also play a role. This will test the "luggage" capacity and therefore practicality of the go-karts.
3) The Agility Test: This is where the mechanical upgrades to the three go-karts shall play their role! Each of the presenters shall drive around a predetermined obstacle course whilst the other two presenters shoot at them with paintball guns and the quickest one with the least amount of hits wins. Simple!
So why is this a good idea?
Well go-karts are fun! And more importantly small, rendering possible obstacle courses and races that wouldn't otherwise be possible on stage.
The Visual Effect Test will do something all live shows should do: involve the audience!
The challenge is also typical Top Gear: tuning, driving quickly and angry men with paint ball guns. Giving the nation something to laugh at!
Last but not least, it's a challenge never undertaken by Top Gear before, assuring endless laughs and mishaps from the boys!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope we were convincing enough!
What a load of pish!
