This tutorial will show you how you can navigate windows successfully using only the command prompt and no desktop, making use of very few commands.

Note: When I say "type change directory period period" near the beginning DO NOT type change directory, type what I typed on screen which is "cd .."
cd stands for change directory and I said that instead by mistake.

  • Not to be a typical techy know it all, but at around 1:42, you only have to type "cd p" really, then press tab and the command line will autocomplete the rest of the entry. Also pressing tab straight off the bat will cycle through the dir files alphabetically.

  • @murphygp Yah, I didn't know anything about the Command Prompt when I made this video. I just thought it was neat. This is almost 3 years old now.

  • is it possible to change website using cmd?

  • Thanks, this was helpful even though I wasn't able to run the file I was trying to run.

  • @dmanbiker "taskkill /f /im explorer.exe" gives you a slight performance boost when playing full screen games :P

    "explorer.exe" to undo any changes

    or "start explorer.exe"

  • I "still" to this day put the slash around the other way for a follow on directory because of spending 10 years using an Amiga from 1990 till 2000. It's now 11 years later and still it happens :( old habits die hard.
