State Route 28 near Rock Island Dam in Douglas county is closed for four days over Spring Vacation (March 28th to April 2nd) to stabilize a rock slope above the highway. An unstable 300 foot high basalt rock slope has continuously produced falling rock onto SR 28. WSDOT maintenance crews are routinely called to clear hazardous rock fall from the roadway. This project reduces the driving hazard presented by falling rocks on the highway and allows for accommodations for future expansion of SR 28,
Nice project, not that I drive on that road, but I do drive over I-90 and live in North Bend. :)
