Vandalism only turns public opinion against the OWS movement. Instead of OWS protesting they 1%, the banksters, lobbyists, etc, they're seen as assholes who are starting fires and causing property damage.

@MatthewFromMN As much as I am in agreement with you, this is not even close to the warfare tactics of great revolutionaries like El Che. These are sloppy and disorganized. Smashing windows of multinational companies only makes an elite capitalist laugh at the attempt.

The reason they hurt OWS is because they give the media what it wants: To demonize the movement and eradicate legitimacy so that we lose supporters. The State WANTS violence, because the state is adept at exploiting violence.

@cosmicforums The reason that the public has these views is because of all the people who did interprete "propoganda by deed" as meaning violent deeds. IThis cancels out thinngs like feeding the hungry, which is also "Propoganda by the deed." Good deeds are good propoganda and bad deeds are bad propoganda. In a society that at least pretends to be deomcratic, the police need some excuse to harass people. Violence and random property destruction give them a great one.

@milascave2 - Well, the police didnt need a reason to dislike anarchists anyways. Have you seen the typical view of an anarchst on the net? They accuse us of everything except what anarchy really is. Just mentioning I am an anarchist has had people immediately demand for my arrest and execution on youtube, yet they dont even know me or anything I have done. I have done no violence...and "propaganda of the DEED" does not automatically mean violence.
