In the service of the state

Finland, as many other countries, employs one form of national service. All men are obliged to serve either military or civic service (of which the civic is twice as long). Every year 50 people are imprisoned as a result of conscientious objection to the practice of national service.

This short feature was made as a final project in one of the courses I had on the exchange at Helsinki Stadia Polytechnic.

"Mandatory national service."

Q:How would it be mandatory?

A: The force of the State would used against you and if you resist you will be killed.

It is just the same as a slave owner who captures a slave during a wartime raid.

There is not moral difference between that two holding the guns. There is no moral difference if a hundred million people the guns. Slavery is still slavery even if it is given a different name.
