They say raising the min wage hurts the job market but in countries like Australia.they do it like this :

For junior employees, the minimum rates are:

Under 16 years of age $5.87

At 16 years of age $7.55

At 17 years of age $9.22

At 18 years of age $10.90

At 19 years of age $13.17

At 20 years of age $15.59

And I say if they can so do this there then so can the U.S..

I think Rep. Bill Young should follow his own advice. He gets lavish pay and benefits from tax money confiscated from people who actually work for a living and contribute to our economy. Great example of the disconnect between elected officials and the people they purport to be serving.

I was at a lions-bears game in Detroit, where this guy from Chicago kept yelling at the fans to "Get a Job Detroit". Finally one of the lady's working as an usher yelled back at him "I have two you asshole"....this guys seems like the elected version of that Chicago fan

Wtf are you talking about, what skill? In making fucking burgers? I could probably go to McDonalds and become a manager in less than a week, working is not that hard. Something is DEFINATELY wrong in your country when your minimum wage is LESS than what Germans here get as welfare money. Hell, even my Hobby-Job as a paperboy nets me 12€ an Hour and you're talking about 5$ work and required skills? What the fuck. I get 1310€ a month for doing NOTHING of substance.

There's high unemployment across the board, the main reason for high unemployment is corporate greed--they want one employee to do the work of three employees and pay them half of what one employee can live on. I have read the arguments against raising the minimum wage, and they've all been demonstrated empirically false.
