Alarming rise in Afghan civilian casualties - 9 March 09

The number of civilians killed in fighting between the Taliban and foreign forces in Afghanistan is rising.

The United Nations says the toll in 2008 was 40 per cent more than in the previous year, and things could get worse with the arrival of more US troops.

Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports from Kabul.

A new United Nations report warns that one reason opium production in Afghanistan could rise again this year is because the Taliban are using it to fund their terrorist activities. So where you about to say that even though the UN is a bunch of worthless pieces of shit, you were able to do more research from your little mobile home in Texas than the UN?
