I gave myself an assignment last night - write, record and post a seasonal song, using my partial capo. Here is what I came up with. Oh, and I'm not a lefty, my webcam flipped the image!

Lyrics:

WINTER TIME
Frost is creeping
Up my window
Trying to keep it from my heart
You are sleeping... See More
But I can't go
Frozen here before I start

It's winter time
winter time

Days of summer
Words unspoken
Echo through my lonely head
Barefoot pavement
Sunburn peeling
Layers of an angry red

but
It's winter time
winter time

I'm looking for the light
to get me through this night
put a candle in the window for me

It's winter time
winter time
winter time

  • aww, thanks for listening. :)

  • Indeed it is winter time. Thanks for the capo trick.new to me:) Very nice tune!

  • Thanks! There are many kinds of partial capos out there, the one I am using is a Kyser.

  • Cool Song, pardon the pun. it's even cold in TN, 17 degrees.

  • haha, thanks! That IS cold!! We hit zero today, brrrrr.

  • (part 2) We're not necessarily trying to save on heating bills, though that's a good idea, it's just really darn cold, so I've been wearing my fingerless gloves a lot around the house. The hat was a last minute addition, more of a costume really - I got it in Peru! It seemed to help, only took me a couple takes after I put it on. (though maybe that has more to do with how much I practiced before, ha!)

  • Thanks Nusi!!

The cool thing about the partial capo is it changes the tuning, but you can still use the normal fingering you'd use without it and get a different sound - don't have to learn new chords! (though of course you can do that too!) I am only just starting to learn about it, which was part of why I gave myself that assignment to use it in the song! It looks fancy but it's really pretty simple.

  • Very nice, Heather! You double capo!! I am so impressed! You are totally my mentor!

So are you trying to save on heating bills?
