Ray Conniff transforms this Brazilian countrysong into a fantastic and swingin' orchestral masterpiece with a definite 50-60's feel to it. This is the Ray Conniff I enjoy most - and millions of other music lovers with me I think ... Ray's musical legacy is something we all should cherish, because, as is the case with some other music giants of the 20th century like Bert Kaempfert, James Last or Horst Wende, his musical style was unique and there will never be "another Conniff" . Ray's style was copied several times by others but nobody was able to bring this kind of music with such quality, such enthusiasm, such 'fun' ....And here too, you can simply hear that Ray's singers, as well as his musicians, are having fun singing and playing this superb arrangement. Inspired by the Maestro himself, no doubt.
From the 1999 album "'s Country" here's Ray Conniff : His Orchestra, His Singers, His "Sound". Happy listenin' !

  • I listen to music or watch the images?

  • Nice trombone solo by Ray, showing he still had 'chops' in his 80's. Also, very interesting to compare Manfred Thoenicke's upload of this very song as it was being recorded (elsewhere on YouTube)...we get a sense of Conniff's post-production multitrack magic as he honed his 'Sound' before the record's release.
