I was going to ask if this cinema was still in use until I read that it had been demolished. A great pity, I bet it was a beautiful place inside. I'm guessing REGAL was a chain as we had one in Stirling, of a similar design although it was demolished in 1970, before my time! I think it opened in 1932. I too love the motor horn on this! Great! They seemed to take a real pride in these projects in those days and I'm sure in the depression the builders were glad of the work available.Good video.

Wonderful to see this. I was a Trainee Assistant Manager in 1966/7 when we often filled every one of the 2553 seats.

Was this the Cannon cinema which was where St. Stephens now is? I remember seeing it open during my school days in the 1980s.

When this cinema was demolished in 2004, it was interesting to see the frames all exposed again.The first film to be shown there in January 1934 was Charles Laughton in'The Private Life of Henry VIII'. The Regal Wonder Organ was played by Reginald Foort.
