Hey guys! As you might already know, I just released my second album titled, "Day to Night on 5 Minutes" on July 29th. It is the follow-up to my first album, "Parallel Synchronized Randomness." Although Day to Night in 5 Minutes was completed within a two and a half month period, much thought went into the composition of each of the tracks, as well as into the structure of the album. That is why I wanted to take a moment to talk a little bit about it ... hopefully it's not too boring of a discussion, as I really didn't plan a script or outline. In this video, I'll basically just be going through the recording process, what my goals were with the album, etc. And of course I end up spiraling into a rant about pop music, but hopefully that adds some variety =P Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy my second album! Feel free to leave a comment or post any questions you may have.

  • @3:30 was so funny

  • @bigrnrlife Lol. Well, it's true. "Night to Day" would have sounded like crap, hahaha =P

  • are you going to send it into glacial pace like the last one? and im assuming isaac didn't contact you back :/

  • @michaelmanfredi00 I actually sent it to a few different indie electronic labels. I'm not sure how it will be received, but I just wanted to get it out there somehow. Glacial Pace never did contact me back. I'm thinking either they never got a chance to listen to my cd ... or maybe they have listened and it's just not what they're really looking for. Eh, I'm not too disappointed about not hearing back from them. Honestly I wasn't going to get my hopes up. Nevertheless, I'm happy I made the album

  • Im really glad I watched this because Im working on a little demo of sorts and whenever I finish a song I do the same thing. I listen to it over and over again, its the most gratifying thing to sit there and listen to something youve just created; even if no one else gets what you were trying to accomplish. I was going to ask what you use to record? Because Ive been looking for something better to use(I just use an old rockband mic and Audacity) because all of my stuff sounds really rough.

  • @dajmasta94 Well, my recording setup is a little wacky. I have a Shure PG 58 mic, which isn't the greatest but it does ok. I have that plugged into a Digitech effects pedal, which is set to slight reverb. I then plug the pedal into my laptop using an amp cable and a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. I then record to audacity, and then use audacity's noise removal tool to get rid of the white noise. I do any further editing in audacity; in fact, I used audacity to construct all of the songs on this album.

  • Hi. I have a book called 'How To Write Songs On Guitar' by Rikky Rooksby. I haven't looked at it in depth as I need to get better on the guitar first but it looks like it would be really helpful. I have tried to write songs too but they end up turning into novelty songs. That's probably what years of listening to the Smiths does to you. Your Frank Black covers are really good. I'm going to have a go at Vanishing Spies soon. I'd like to do True Blue. Is that an easy song to play?
