  • You do NOT have to be overweight to have Sleep Apnea ... it is true obesity increases the odds you will have it, but plenty of people who are not overweight have it.

  • get this poor lady a sleep test NOW!!! A Cpap machine will really save this woman of such misery

  • I thought this sleep was normal all my life from watching my mother, she passed away due to congestive heart failure, and her cardiologist could not understand why her internal defliberator could not help her. I wish i had known about sleep apnea early on. I just realized this today, what had really killed my mother.

  • @4afriend7 and you should stop being a racist prick :)

  • I had it like this last night, it's horrible. But when I dreamed I tried really hard to breath and after a while i managed to do it. So weird

  • I think I have it :(. I don't snore though often. My boyfriend came home and saw me napping a few weeks ago and saw that I wasn't breathing, he thought I was dead. And I have started waking up out of breath lately and very lightheaded and dizzy with headaches. I imagine it's hard to get diagnosed, I don't really wanna wear that thing on my face....I don't think I would.

  • i think i had sleep apnea this morning.. i was dreaming about something i dont remember what it was but in the dream i wasnt breathing i woke up/ wasnt breathing again and i was blacking out and i took a breath and it felt super weird

  • You do not have to be overweight to have sleep apnea. There is much speculation about sleep apnea causing weight problems because the lack of healthy sleep causes a serious decrease in the amount of energy a person has.

  • @Caghs I tried all the available masks from the sleep clinic,a humidifier and various mandibular advancement splints etc etc but I have to take medication for bi-polar which causes further nasal congestion and so I don't bother using it at all-I try to ensure I sleep on my side and resort to taking multiple sleep sessions throughout the course of the day.I've found that daily vigorous exercise helps me out more than anything, but I thank you for your suggestions.

  • @chickitakoowan I found the CPAP hard to get used to, because I have narrowing of the left nostril in addition to the OSA, and felt like I was suffocating on the nasal mask.

I found that using a properly-fitted full-face mask (I've been using the Resmed Ultra Mirage 2 for six years, just changed to a Resmed Mirage Quantum) in addition to using saline nasal spray before sleep helped immensely. Also a ramped machine is fantastic, as is a humidifier; they all help.

  • Breathe Right strip or more alcohol. Good luck.

  • @TheBsheep That's what I'm talking about.
