Karsten Whitson warms up during the 2009 AFLAC All-American game, which was held at San Diego's PETCO Park. The 6-foot-4, 190 pound right-hander is a senior at Chipley High School in Chipley, Florida. Whitson is the nephew of former big league hurler Ed Whitson, who pitched for the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees. Whitson has committed to play at the University of Florida and is a top prospect for the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

If I had been 6' 4" tall in 1994 at Vernon I believe I had about the same strike out average. I made Florida All Stars Sunshine State Games under Coach Rod Wright former agent for Barry Bonds at that time and my first year pitching coach Hawkins from UGA destroyed my arm closing two games in a double header at Gulf Coast in 40 degree temps after three no hit innings in the first game. Good luck Karsten not sure how many folks remember me "Scott G" from Vernon
