I went to a cdl school where training is done in automatics. Got my license and started driving as a casual. The equipment was cabbies without power steering. The only experience I had driving a stick was my own car and the truck a drove in the 70's. I was adequately trained. After three accidents I was fired. All involved close quarter ops in dock areas. OH well. Still driving though.

Doesn't mean, if you get your CDL. Doesn't mean, you will get a job, especially if you attend a school and your paying for yourself. Best way is, do it with a company if you can.

@Pyramidtank I think it all depends on what it was and who you want to work for. I'm not really up on it for sure.

Very interesting info..Though I havent done "all" my homework..I have yet to hear about a company over here that takes rookies in and trains them. They all seem to want ppl with "licences and atleast 2 yrs experience".$2500 to get a semi licence but hard to get a company to give you a start driving.****

There are companies lining up for drivers here! Of course they want you to do things their way!
The better jobs require experience! Thanks!
