  • Amazing!I have some questions: where did you get the ruby?what kind of flash lamps was?a xenon one?It is possible to make a constant flow of laser light using an intermittent flash lamp?

  • Hi

The oscillator was a Hughes Rangefinder System buildt for military applications and uses one Perkin Elmer Mod. 103 Xenon-Flashlamp. A Rubylaser runs only in Pumpmode - Experiments using a CW-Lamp to run in permanent Operation never really worked well because it takes to much Pumpenergy and Cooling. Actually systems operating up to 30 Hz.

  • The final step is to calibrate the voltage, and attach a plasma tube comprised of Neon, and weaponized it into a laser rifle from fallout 3.

  • I'm going to make this laser in pistol form just like the ones from Fallout >:)

  • nice ! but a bit heavy on 1000 volts , en weight ;-)

    but nice try

  • omfg i see a star wars blaster popping up soon

  • How much is this laser rod or similar laser rod? And the flash lamp?

  • Amazing video 5 stars! BUT the only thing this is missing, is the video of the laser shot viewed on a high-speed camera. Great vid!

  • really, nikola tesla made the ruby laser in 1889 while demonstrating different types of stumilated emmission of materials in a vacuum tube. when exciting a ruby droplet, it created a perfect straight line that extended out of the vaccuum tube, tesla talks about right in his high voltage high frequency notes and shows picture of this stright laser like beam from the tube, its amazing! its sad what they did to tesla! he discovered the laser in 1889!!!!
