Music and lyrics to the Dave Matthews Band unreleased song, "Captain" from the Lillywhite Sessions. The lyrics are much darker and sad than those on the "Busted Stuff" studio album.

  • Is there any way to get the lillywhite sessions on my ipod?

  • @domitius42 If you go to my website at jake1729 [dot] com/dmb, you can download the WAV files; those should play on your iPod.

  • @jake1729 I LOVE YOU. Just thought you might want to know. lol.

  • @domitius42 ha, good to know! I assume the files worked?

  • I remember when this was leaked back in 2000...Dave was going through major depression when he recorded these tracks. If I remember right he was even flirting with suicidal thoughts?

  • @thedude0088 Yes, I remember that too. Very sad, but I'm glad he pulled through it.

  • i love the lilly white sessions.

  • Beautiful song! Thanks Jake1729!

  • Most beautiful.....

  • Why the hell does Busted Stuff not have Boyd and Roi's intro to the 'Why should i....' bit? Thats one of my favourite bits in ANY DMB song!!

  • Thank you.

  • Damn, I remember when I heard about the Lillywhite sessions in 2000. I was scrambling to gather all the songs off of Napster before it went belly up. This is by far the best DMB album ever recorded. Heartful, emotional and very real and moody. When I feel like shit, I listen to this album all the time. It's a real shame Dave had to be so low to make this album, but he should be proud of it. Some rare stuff here.

  • This cd was incredible for me... I listened to it every night in the hospital in 2001-2002 and, for some reason, it kept me sane and got me through one of the rarest types of cancer...

  • The Busted Stuff version of this song is busted. This will always be the original and my favorite of the two.

  • What an extremely haunting version of this song. The lyrics are much more depressing than the ones on BT.

  • Hope this is played again someday.
