  • my dr is a bit concerned I could develope diabetes in the future.. er i mean .. umm.. insulin resistance and so she says cut out or really cut down sweets, carbs, startches.. etc. .so that's why i was asking. Does his little sis ever get jealous of all the attention he gets for diabetes? I had many health problems as a baby/young child and I think my bro may have. not sure.i still have to many health probs for my age.. anyhow tc.:D God bless!

  • @blacksheepgirl Insulin resistance is different that type 1 diabetes. Caleb's body is producing no insulin at all. Managing that is different than when your body produces it, but doesn't use it efficiently.

No. We've been able to make it a pretty routine part of our lives. His brother and sister get plenty of their own attention and understand Caleb's needs are a little different.

  • just a question... how can he have so much carbs and sugar without being afraid of really high or low blood sugar? Just curios.:) Thanks

  • @blacksheepgirl We manage Caleb's insulin dosing to match. We're normally able to keep him in range. Over time we've learn about how foods affect his blood sugar and do our best to match the timing and dosing of insulin appropriately. We get it right much more than not.

  • Does he go to sweeny?

  • @GoblinBigears He doesn't. The local camp here is Camp Joslin. This year, however, we went to Friends for Life in Florida as a family so he didn't go to D camp. We went last year though.

  • @lsisto1 You're welcome, Caleb.

  • Caleb, they say that most sugary liquids can bring your blood sugar up. I asked someone a question regarding the lancet you put on your finger to draw blood.

  • @lifesaver173 Thank you Kelly!
