AnimeUSA 2011 Iron Editor - War Games

This is my winning video for the AUSA 2011 Iron Editor competition sans the secret source (which was the Halo movie). The theme was War is Hell. I sure had a hell of a time making this one. Before making this video I didn't think I was capable of making an amv with no lyrics. I always use lyrics as a guide to pretty much do the work for me, but I gave it a shot anyway and it all started to come together. I'm really glad that I gave it a try. The goal was to incorporate several aspects of war from the action to the weapons to the explosions, and most importantly to the suffering and sacrifice that goes along with it. War is anything BUT a game. I was thrilled to successfully defend my title. I never would have imagined I'd be a 2-time Iron Editor champ (especially against formidable competition) but there it is!

The music is by Dimmu Borgir, a Norwegian Death Metal band. I knew nothing about them until my brother made me take a listen as I was searching for some ideas. I'm not into this genre normally, but when I heard the instrumental of their song "Gateways", something just clicked and I knew this would work. Now I'm a fan (of their instrumentals at least ~_^).

@nightmistress85 `Well perhaps stress and limitations set you off? I'm like that with my homework. But writing my book is a pain in the ass on the motivation side, because I can't seem to have enough fuel. And I take in only two types of fuel: Time limitations and good music. (Your video helped me to write another few pages)

@GreatDemian Thank you. I really appreciate that. Emotion is definitely integral to any video I make from drama upbeat. I would like to make more, but motivation it's hard sometimes since I don't really watch anime anymore. It's funny that you say you can't rush a genius. My latest 2 videos are exactly that since I had to produce them for Iron Editor (you only have 2 hours to put them together), so I have to put these together fast so that I can practice for the event.
