At the Wired Business Conference "Disruptive By Design" 2011, Autodesk CEO Carl Bass showed Wired's Chris Anderson how ordinary digital photos can be converted into full 3D models using the Autodesk Project Photofly 2.0 technology. This 3D head anmiation was created from a set of photos. Half-way through you can see the dense 3D mesh geometry.

  • how come he could stay the same for all 40 photos?

  • @bdogrular Chris sat stll in a chair while the 30 or so photos were taken. Slight body movements are OK as long as they are small.

  • Not too shiny. I wasn't tall enough to take top down pictures!

  • WHERE"S THE MAC VERSION!!!

  • he can sit on the floor so i can use his head as a bowl for popcrn

  • This is it guys, the future of video games! Your own virtual avatar!!!

  • Looks like shawn connery.

  • This would be cool to implement the texture/model to work with MoCap- motion capture technology to build a very highly textured, highly synced animation of a person!

  • As I see it I´m able to go out and take fotos of a building.. do some hokuspokus in the cloud and then I´m able to scale it and transform it to a pointcloud.. After that a can import it to scan to BIM and use Revit to Bim it. AMAZING!!

  • it´s free?
