Tribute to honor Harriet Tubman's SPUNKY COURAGEOUS LEGACY of freedom & what it means today. (1820-1913) Feat. movie clips of "A Woman Called Moses" starring Actress Cecily Tyson & closing with a memorable "Take Your Place" speech from Cecily Tyson in "Madea's Family Reunion". Here is a tribute with rich heritage & history...Enjoy!:-) R-luv

Using the Wilmington, Delaware, home of Quaker abolitionist Thomas Garrett (1789-1871) as a checkpoint, Harriet Tubman undertook some 20 hazardous missions in which she covertly journeyed down south, pinpointed slaves, and led them to freedom up north, at times going as far as Canada. In leading these flights, with a long rifle in hand, she warned her escapees that, if any of them even considered surrendering or returning, the penalty would be death. Her persuasiveness was evident in that never on any of her missions did she lose a "passenger" on the Underground Railroad. In addition to her nickname "Moses," for her bravery Harriet was dubbed "General" Tubman by the militant abolitionist John Brown, with whom she worked in Canada. William Still (who recorded activities of the Underground Railroad) described her as: "a woman of no pretensions, indeed, a more ordinary specimen of humanity could hardly be found among the most unfortunate-looking farm hands of the South. Yet, in point of courage, shrewdness and disinterested exertions to rescue her fellow-men ... she was without her equal."

Poem: "Divine" Written By R-luv & Inspired By Cecily Tyson's "Family Reunion-Take Your Place" speech featured in video...Enjoy!:-) R-luv

Women... beauty is more than what you see with your eyes
MORE than your butt, your thighs, your legs & your size
It's the blood running thru your veins
The dignity of legends from where you came
To who YOU choose to be
Do you want dignity?
Touch the sky you are DIVINE
USE your head
USE your heart
USE your mind
Put self esteem in your dreams
CROWN your mind
You are a QUEEN!

Dear Men... be Dear Gentleman
In a world full of STDs & temptation
Love & cherish YOUR woman
EXERCISE your discipline
As you exercise your freedom
To LOVE HARD with you head, your heart, & your mind Dear Men be Dear Gentleman
Righteous love is DIVINE!!

  • I really loved that alot, thank you!

  • @Bridgeknapek Your super welcome...THANKS4watching!!:-)) R-luv

  • Thanks for watching & sharing your comments! Early in her life, she suffered a traumatic head wound which caused spells of hypersomnia (excessive amounts of sleepiness) yet she lead the "Underground Railroad" freeing thousands of slaves & didn't loose not even ONE passenger...WOW what spunk!! She is truely a REAL hero to be inspired by & educate ourselves & children about her legacy of love for freedom & her fellowman despite extreme peril on her life & risks of her sickness!! R-luv

  • Thank You again Star...for bringing attention to this strong and intelligent lady. With all that has occurred this past week within the political area, I'll learned that parents really need to do a better job at passing down messages from the past. Our legacy will guide us through the future. Many youth today have no knowledge of the struggle, take it for granted or see no significance n the past. They r in such a state of confusion.. due 2 the lack of a foundation. Parents can change that!

  • OMG YES! What a lady! I was just brushing up on my history & this woman is remarkable!! There is a link posted in the description area on the right that shows in great detail how legendary this woman was. Anyone who loves freedom should take note of her intense compassion for her fellowman & courage! Cecily Tyson portrays her very well but I'm sure it would be AMAZING to meet Harriet Tubman!!!:-) R-luv
