Lets look at this....why would I ever want to better myself if I know when I hit this 250K mark I will have to play 50%, 60%, or maybe 70% of MY HARD EARNED INCOME in taxes? We were AT the rates that the rich would pay had the Bush tax cuts expired for ALMOST 10 YEARS UNDER CLINTON! And we had one of the biggest peacetime booms! So CLEARLY a 39.6% rate doesn't seem to matter all that much when businesses are doing well. Businesses need REVENUES, and we need to find ways to help them obtain revenues and spur demand, not take the easy way out and cut their taxes, which will make it even harder to get revenues we need and then make drastic cuts.

Why do you guys keep acting like we wanna go back to the JFK or Eisenhower rates?? NO ONE in the Democratic Party today with any influence is ADVOCATING THAT! We're simply asking for them to pay a mere 5% MORE. Hell, this tax cut's only been in effect for a decade now, and I don't see the results. Only 3 million net jobs were created under Bush, and our economy CRASHED in 2008! How did these tax cuts "help"?

Why not at least get some of that catastrophic expensive shit OFF YOUR BACK and have everyone pool their resources to REDUCE costs in the end, like with healthcare? Plus, you idiot, the IRS offers Tax Benefits for Education. You can deduct qualified education expenses paid during the year for yourself, your spouse, or your dependent(s). You cannot claim this deduction if your filing status is married filing separately or if another person can claim an exemption for you as a dependent on his/her tax return.

What is fair? When having a group meal at a restaurant, bills are usually divided equally or based upon what one ordered. I doubt that persons would try to divide the bill based upon income & even higher rates.

Why different for wasteful giveaway prgarams?

The effective tax rate is 22% (even w/15% rate on cap gains) above $500,000 (0.6% of filers). All lesser income groups pay lower rates.

These people aren't worried so much about the taxes. They want the income levels to be equal. So the more you make, the more tax you should pay to be equal (fair). They must think everyone should just give their income to the Government, then get your 50 dollar check every month. That's fair right? This is all insane. My Dad warned me of this years ago, when I was a Liberal Dem. Well he was right.
