Marriage sucks, there's no reason to marry, you can live together and raise kids easily without getting married.

I think that marriage is obsolete because enforcing monogamy is largely irrelevant in modern society. However, marriage did force people into small familial groups that could regulate social constructs such as morality and intellectualism. A child can't know what their parents think if they aren't around. Starting as a philosophical blank page should be harder than making changes to an established list I think. Put bluntly, I think marriage is good for stupid people.

@guyblews great video!!! Just so you know I'm a woman and I totally agree with a lot of what you said. But men are not the ones who thing like that.I happen to be one that don't believe in marriages.I did it once and will never ever do it again..You can have a healthy relationship without that damn piece of paper.

Of course if she brings more assets to the relationship then you do not have problem (2), but my experience of the odd female friend that is in this position is that they are suddenly NOT so keen on marriage :-)

That in my view is all the things you need to know to come to a decision on marriage :-|

(1) There is literally no upside to the vast majority of men in getting married - NOTHING.

(2) If the marriage fails then assuming the failure is not immediate then the courts will allow your wife to take half of all assets earned over your lifetime - if you have kids she will not only take MORE than half of all your assets (including your pension) but if she so chooses you will have to keep paying her spousal support until one of you DIES gulp !

Guy, whilst I agree with a lot of what you say (especially the parachute analogy) if you REALLY think women will go with your parenting idea then you haven't been out with many women :-)
