Passport and long gun registry - silly laws

I forgot to bring our passports on this trip so there was no quick hop over the line. To me the US passport requirements are as silly as the Canadian long gun registry.
A US passport requirement will not keep out the people it is intended to do so. The Canadian long gun registry has not kept guns from being smuggled into Canada or out of the hands of criminals.
As with most of these knee jerk reaction laws, it is the honest citizens that obey the laws and bear the financial burden of implementing them.

@bstonebridge It was on a decline before the long gun registry, but when the handgun registry was put in 1934 death by handguns has been on a rise. The regisrty dose jack.

US is not Canada, they're free to do anything they want without asking us, Canadians. We, in turn, can block US people from entering Canada.

one persons rant. how hard is it to bring ur passport? U forgot it, u were rejected. that is what is required to enter the US of A.

I agree; it's crap. The system's a joke; they can't stop gang shootings...when that system first came in, the staff at the firearms centre didn't even know what they were talking about half the time. Some of those staffers have probably never even been to a rifle range.
