Zappa was GREAT on talk shows... I think he loved the cheesiness.... People forget that his art was based on satirizing all things pretentious, hypocritical and mundane. He was sort of a social anthropologist who reported his observations through his music.

When Frank says, "Stop composing music and get a real estate license." The guy and the crowd in the back laughing really hard, and all I can imagine Frank thinking is, "Well I'm glad you're having a good time," since he's being dead serious seems to be babysitting a whole crowd.
