The annual Fall Leadership Retreat for 2008 will be hosted at the University of Missouri! Similar to our sidekick hosting the Spring Conference , The University of Michigan (which we hope to see you all there), both of our schools hosted MAASU 4 years ago. It is by no coincidence that 4 years later we have been brought together once again to make an incredible year for MAASU.
The Asian American movement is relatively young and experimental in the fight for equality. With our generation of passionate young people understanding the meaning of activism we are fighting for something worthwhile. It is only fitting that the young and able leaders of todays Midwest community come to light and be recognized as a genre of heroism. There is great power behind the small actions of an individual student, strong force in the unified voice of a group, and a huge task of producing more change in a slow moving world. The purpose of the Asian American movement is not just to make our own lives better but for future generations of Asian Americans, our children. What we accomplish today will be the catalysts for those who take on the forefront down the road, just as other APIA Leaders have done before us.
So with the coming years for the APIA movement let us realize that anyone can be a hero and you do not need to have superpowers to make a difference. The University of Missouri is proud to announce our MAASU Leadership Retreat theme...
