If you get a message on your HP Photosmart C4200, C4300, C4400, or C4500 printer or on your computer that says you're 'out of paper' when you DO have paper loaded, watch this video and see if it helps.

The printer shown in this video is an HP Photosmart C4280, but the steps are the same if your printer is an HP Photosmart C4200, C4300, C4400, or C4500.

This video may apply to other printers as well.

I am an HP employee, but I do not represent HP on this site.

  • yes! thank you! I had to clean the main roller thrice, but

    it works

it had worked just until the warranty ran out

    saved me some dough,

  • Worked on Photosmart C1380 Thanks!

  • Thank you so much it worked to perfection! :)

  • This worked! Thank you! I had to do the last step twice and at that point had lost hope, but now I have all my motions and documents printed in time for tomorrow!!

  • I must say that HP printers are just no good, I have very nearly thrown my out the window in frustration , why dont they make stuff that works, the paper loading is a terrible weakness they should find a better way, brother printers are OK!!

  • "HP employe", you made my day too !

    thanks from belgium ;)

  • muito ruin

  • I followed this video also and it did nothing. My C4280 is still not working. Will take Billb's advice and trash the thing. The HP ink cartridges cost way too much anyway, (I just purchased $65.00 worth). I'll look for a printer that has cheaper ink cartridges. I can probably buy a new printer for the cost of HP's ink, and hopefully will find one that offers better customer service than HP.
