BIG THANKS TO THE IPHONE DEV TEAM (blog.iphone-dev.org) FOR THEIR AMAZING WORK ON THIS UNLOCK, AND TO WHOEVER WROTE THE GUIDE FOR THIS TECHNIQUE.

This quick guide assumes you have already installed Yellowsn0w and haven't been having any luck with it. Please follow the updates at blog.iphone-dev.org for updates.




FURTHER NOTE

As of version 0.9.5 there is no need to use mobile terminal: simply restart the phone, turn flight mode on, count to five and turn it off again.

For those experiencing INVALID SIM issues, please remember to RESTORE rather than UPDATE with iTunes, and remove any sim cards until you have completed the restore and the jailbreak. Remember you need to download the .ipsw file to use with Quickpwn - a simple google search for "iPhone 3g 2.2 .ipsw" found this for me and I had it in no time.

This will fix the invalid sim problem for 90 percent of those suffering it.

Some users in the blogs have reported that you need to switch off wifi/3g/location services before initiallly putting your SIM card in- THIS IS NOT THE CASE, certainly not with standard UK sims anyway, although if you have a VERY old sim card it may be worth trying turning off the 3g toggle if all else fails.

Just install Yellowsn0w through Cydia or Installer, reboot then follow this guide and you will be up and running.

Hi, I have a iphone 3gs on o2 3.1.3 baseband 05.11.09 and i have unlocked it with ultrasn0w, it installs fine but when but a t mobile sim card in it i cant call 150 but i can send MMS + the internet on it, Have any ideas?

@liverpoolatnight yes it sounds like you have a barred/blacklisted/stolen phone. Was it bought second hand?

@misterleoni Yeah mate i got it from ebay. But if i can still access the internet on the phone then i dont think is been blocked, Wouldnt it be blacklisted all together?

@liverpoolatnight No it's a well known way to determine a blacklisted phone: data services will still work but GSM services such as SMS and phone calls will fail. When you try and make a call you will just get three beeps and the call will fail.

If you paid through Paypal you should begin filing a claim.
