I like the slow, rich tonality here.....but Heifetz doesn't miss A SINGLE trick either

@freeqwerqwer LOL. Um. I'm a) an artist and b) I've been playing the violin my entire life. I'm also 14, playing this and songs similar/harder on the violin, in my second year of college, and am selling art professionally. I do believe you're the one who's a dunce- for something professional like this, its not appropriate for a violin player to wear costumes. Standard wear is a business suit.

@brightstar334 , it is people like you who have no idea what art is. You are what we call "squares"----dunce people or people without artistic sense. You are the type of dumb person who would walk out into the the street in your pajamas and wonder why people look at you, and will never understand why.

@freeqwerqwer What else is he supposed to wear? XD Some old-fashioned mozart suit?

Why is everyone making comments like if he's sober or whatever? o.0 This is amazing playing, and this is an amazing tempo to be playing at, it shows the beauty of the music much more.

this is the best version i've ever heard of this piece. sounds so much better at this tempo.

Oh please. I would be so glad to hear yourself playing this sober. Why don't you try it?. Frankly, I couldn't do it myself.
How much do I hate hearing people talking about immense artists who left art testimonies for future generations to learn!

With Szeryng, music is never a speed contest. He is the greatest live performer I ever experienced. One of the all-time best. While at Indiana University, I took part in one of his master classes and what a wonderful teacher he was.

Now this is a Violinist. Perfect form, lots of expression and passion in his playing.
Mr Szeryng would give Perlmann a run for his money. Miss Sopie Mutter, I hope your watching this and taking notes.
Who can play this better after a full bottle of wine?
;-)

@MrFullService As the pianist in this recording, I can assure you that Szeryng was not the slightest bit drunk that morning and that we always played the Rondo at that tempo. I thought it was graceful and musical and in just the right style - I've just watched Heifetz's version for the first time and to me, at least, it sounds like a charmless Flight of the Bumblebee by comparison. Remember, it's Viennese salon music, and not meant to be a technical tour de force.
