war is war. it's even more bad for francis' case. he is italian and his enemies were italians. brothers kill brothers. even the american independent war was such a war. americans were englishmen. they wanted freedom and they got it. but they're still ethnically englishmen. many people forget that ;)

PS By the way, In this clip, Francis hasn't been crusading, if I'm not mistaken, he was taking part in a war against another Italian city, can't remember which one.
... Please forgive all this nerdish info, can't help myself sometimes :-)

The most pointless thing, what humans ever devised, are holy wars.
Neither heath nor moslem, neither christian nor hindu, no one should be forced into a religion.
The crusaders were a disgrace to western europe. 1204 they conquered Constantinople. The Byzantine Empire was an important christian stronghold.
They attacked their own allies.

This movie is so great! Donovan <3
I mean, you don't need 3d-effects, LOTR-music or great scales of the world to make a impact, this movie is so simple and so beutiful and powerful, So much life and emotion! What you need is a great story and good actors! God bless!

Warm are the loaves That cool on the sill To the song of the clear, trickling stream The good, clean smell of the rough woven sheets The song of the children at play Oh, the drums are so mournful My dear, oh, my love As my thought's they are turning your way Where are the eyes I beheld with my own? On that long ago lazy day On that long ago lazy day.
Donovan Leitch is a legend...This song must be the one on the top of the all time great songs :) along with Lovely Day (in Brother Sun Sister Moon)
