My pleasure brother. It was a beautiful day there (and hot). I can't wait to go back and see more stone circles and megaliths.

I so want to be there... to smell the grass and feel the vibes of such a ancient place....

@TODIALAS2012 It is truly a magical place. You could feel the energy of the ancients standing there. This is my favorite circle in Ireland and one of the larger ones. It is actualy right in town of Kenmare. Thanks for your comment!

Beautiful and always kind of mind-blowing. Too frustrating to not know exactly what those are all about.

@GHWP Thank you so much for your comment Luci. This is my favorite circle in the western part of the country. I personally feel these served two purposes: First, as a clock to keep up with the growing cycles and seasons and Second, as a religious sanctuary. Archaeologists have found human remains under many of the center stones, which means these might be a memorial to leaders or important people. The energy there is great and you can feel the history of humanity. Truly wonderful!

Apparently this style of burial (massive seven ton capstone supported by several low stones)appears to be restricted to this part of Ireland: there are over seventy examples in the south Munster area, with apparently just one elsewhere in Ireland.
