Lets not forget the Grand Lodge of Ekklesia in Vatican City, yes Vatican City which covertly controls the UGLE in London. Lets not forget that the Knights of the Virgin Mary IHS (Los Alumbrados) as the Society of Jesus (the revived Knights Templar from the Kingdom of Aragon) created the degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry regardless of those who wish to claim otherwise in order to protect their belief systems or Rome.
In the US, you receive degrees four to thirty two in a single day or over the weekend, and there is no unanimous agreement by the Supreme Council rule. You simply pay the fee and the brothers of the Scottish Rite Lodge you petition vote on you. It's as easy as that.
Regarding our oaths: They are purely symbolic, and there is only one documented case -- the Morgan Affair -- in which an apostate Mason was possibly murdered by a group of insane Masons for breaking his oaths.
Search YouTube. There are no end to the number of people who have left Masonry and disclosed our "secrets", which are hardly secrets as they are widely available online and in the stacks of any decent library or book retailer.
Regarding the Shrine, it used to require one be a 32nd, not a 33rd, or membership in the Knights Templar to join, but this is no longer the case. Any Master Mason can join the Shrine these days, and has been able to for some time.
As for any appendant body "outranking" the Blue Lodge, this isn't the case. The Blue Lodge outranks the appendant bodies in that if you lose membership in the Blue Lodge, you lose membership in all appendant bodies.
The Rite of Memphis and Misraim isn't a proper Masonic organization as it is not recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England, America's Grand Lodges, or any affiliated, international Masonic bodies. Memphis and Misraim practices philosophies and rituals that have as much to do with proper Masonry as Christian sex cults have to do with proper Christianity.
One can be a Mason or one can be a doctrinal Christian, in my opinion, and that's because, contrary to what dishonest or confused Masons may tell you, Freemasonry IS a religion and it DOES deny the uniqueness of Jesus, as well as the belief that only through Jesus can one be saved.
Peace to all men, nonetheless. That's another bit of Masonic doctrine. We don't care what your religion is. We wish you all the best.
As a Freemason, I can accurately say that with respect to doctrine, the Craft is incompatible with any religion that upholds that salvation is only attainable by the practice of its faith, including hard line Christianity, which upholds that salvation is only attainable through faith in Jesus.
Masonic doctrine teaches that salvation is attainable to all good men regardless of their religion. Of course, there are Masons who betray their oath to uphold this doctrine, but it's doctrine still.
@livingwaterrevivals - The bad guys talk in opposites. Look around you and see who you are amoungst (including the larger organization) and what they are up to. Look at what you are being promised by your involvement. This will give you some clues as to where you are headed. Best wishes in your exploration of this.
Christian or Freemason? Both, and proud of it. I love my Lord and I love my Lodge. If I ever see one conflicting with the other, I choose the Lord. Fortunately, there is no conflict between the two. Oh yes, I am a Shriner also.
