In 2009 Cinema Touching Disability also featured A Possible Dream: The Andrea Friedman Story, a poignant documentary about a young successful actress with Down Syndrome. When Andrea was born the doctors urged her parents to place her in an institution; they refused and set out to give her a life full of all the love, opportunities and challenges as they would any child. This documentary, narrated by Joanne Woodward, traces Andrea's childhood and her family's struggle to have her accepted in the 'mainstream' through to her adulthood and successful acting career, exploding many of the myths about people with intellectual disabilities along the way.
