tactical snow fort

James and I have spent about 55 hours on this fort so far. It is our biggest so far, and we want to make it bigger. It's still early January and we have three months left before it really starts to melt. We are hoping for some more snowfall. It's getting harder to collect snow for it. Also school started today - lame. With more snow and time we will raise the platforms another foot, raise the tower as much as gravity and snowfall permit, three feet? (every additional foot of snow is exponentially harder than the last as we have to expand the base.) Lastly, we would like to build a storage chamber off of the turret and fill it with supplies (food, alcohol (low freezing temperature), candle and electronic lanterns, fireworks, and perhaps blue foamies.

I got some good headlamps so I would like to make another fort at least as big and film the inside.

Next year we plan to build an effective bombardment tower. We'll keep the same basic design though.

We had one cave in this year. We started tunnelling too soon and the snow was still too powdery. It fell on James but I pulled him out. All's well.

You need to wait until the snow hardens under gravity or from a warm day before you start tunnelling.
