FALLOUT: Coming Home From the War in Iraq

A short film by Ava Lowrey about the war in Iraq and its effects on our returning troops. Pro-war or anti-war, we should all take the time to listen to what our returning troops have to say.

This a short(2 minute) film i've entered into the "Film Your Issue" contest, and also a taste of what is to come with the full length documentary I'm working on.

Avery, I am a contributor and admirer of your work, but this is not a movie: there is NO visual interest or variation at all. I'm afraid it takes a dramatic and awful subject, and makes it dull. Keep the audio, but add visuals (you have the skill) or nobody will watch it

I cant believe I sided with you anti-war people 2,3,4 years ago. We NEED to win this war we NEED to know the middle east doesnt hold mass murderers or groups of them who go unchecked, unchallenged. But the can that holds the least rattles the most. Shake it harder and it gets louder. A real man wouldnt say a damn thing. But that doesnt mean he doesnt do something about it. These videos are so needed. people here debate and argue about the war, but we're not the ones killing, dying, losing limbs, and/or being traumatized daily. Peace!

OMG, like I had this baby, and all he did was cry & scream all night long unless I held him and rocked him, sang to him, told him everything was going to be okay. If a car drove by and backfired, and made a loud noise, and woke him up, he would cry and cry and until I came in there and picked him up and rocked him for another hour. Now he is a grown man and is protects your freedom so YOU don't have to cover your face with a sheet, and you can bad mouth your president and every REAL MAN AND LIVE

Looks Good. However I have a few suggestions to make it look better. One next time you film an interview don't leave so much head room, his head ends halfway up the screen and all is there is blank space, which is useless and distracting. You want to divide you screen into thirds up and down and always make sure you frame your subject's eyes in the upper third. Also there were kind of a lot of jump cuts. Maybe you could have gotten more photos and covered some of your edits.
