reading the first few comments here I have to say one thing

"if you have no respect for other martial arts then you aren't a true fighter"

it doesn't matter what martial art you train as long as your good at it - there is no such thing as a superior style there are only superior fighters

better not forget Wing Chun........it u give me 1 punch........then if that punch is not effective ..... then one thousand punch will decorate Kyokusin's face at any time if they like ...... invinsible multiple and painful punch straight to the nerve and brain ...... that will be suffering enough just for a master

(laymen's opinion) it seems like the punches to the mid riff and the kicks to the legs are sure to hit. Is the strategy to know when the high kick is safe to throw, but to wear the opponent down with the aforementioned sure fire shots?

face punching was alowed but since you cant use gloves u cant punch the face teath will come out that doest mean that the japanese cant punch remember mas oyama was the god fist he could breack you just like a twig with only one punch kyokushin has power punches to the body imagine what they can do to the face hehe your punching the body thats heavy but the face hehe its small so a kyokushin punch can kill and japanese can punch see in tameshiwarii ...osu

these rules was created in the early 70ies.

The thin gloves we used today did not exist back then (the thin gloves back then were crap). It was basically a choice of bareknuckle or heavy clumsy boxing gloves.

Kyokushin opted for bareknuckle and the limitations it placed for safe competitions.

Today some kyokushin organisations fight with headpunches and mma type gloves. But the old rules are still as they were created in the beginning of the 70ies.

but if u look at other styles of karate , u will find punches to the face too , and , kyokushin used to allow punches to the face but was banned after the major injuries and permanent ones which happened , its not about the japanese its about styles , u dont like it , dont do it.
