@sam3374 Sam, if Jesus Christ was walking on earth for three years in that part of the world, healing people who are blind, lame, deaf/dumb, and raising dead people, you know that there has to other be documents from the surrounding governments recording all this, Rome is going to want to know this man and see all these healings, that is just a fact, just like the U.S. Gov., Chinese Gov., European Gov., African Gov. etc. Three years of healing is not going to be recorded in just the bible.

As the film says wood doesn't survive but it takes on the host's shape. Lastly I've read the verses in Exodus and Samuel about shur but i see no contradiction. This desert is near the gulf which is near egypt's eastern border. This crossing site seems to fit well with biblical description also not mentioned in the film are pillars which says the gulf as the crossing site. 1 Kings 9:26 says yam suph (the crossing site) is near Elath, which is said to be near the gulf of aqaba.

Remember, in Jesus life and times, the Pharisees and scribes held a very unique position in that the Roman government let them govern their own affairs so if it was a Jewish matter, the Roman government did not interfere with that process. The ONLY way Jesus history was talked about was by those who followed him, not the Pharisees and scribes, men who hated his scathing review of their administering of the Mosaic Law. They wanted Jesus silenced. Their elders so to it.

That depends on what the feelings were of those in power. You have to remember that many times in history entire lives were striken from official records if the person defected from the stance the governments took in their day. One example is Moses. Being adopted by the daughter of Pharoah, Moses stod to inherit the kingdom but he killed an Egyptian and fled for his life. His name was striken from ALL official Egyptian record. So Jesus could very well have faced this.

@sam3374 -I have largely accepted a Lake Ballah location for the crossing due to the mention of "Migdol", and its likely correspondence with the Egyptian Migdol in Seti I's reliefs, which is known to be NE of Lake Ballah, the "turn back" in Exodus 14:2, assuming Etham to be a yet unattested "Isle of Atum" in the W. end of the Wadi Tumilat, and the "p3 twfy" mentioned in Ramesside texts. Your observation does, indeed, pose an obstacle for my view.

@sam3374 Yes, I believe the crossing to be at a 10-8 ft deep lake near Goshen (northern Lake Ballah), though, if archaeological evidence is found, I will gladly accept a crossing at the Gulf of Suez. I believe Mount Sinai is likely (though not certainly, see my above comments), in the south Sinai Peninsula, and, if so, it is likely to be at the traditional site.

@sam3374 I also checked the biblical data in regard to the W. of Sin; with Sinai as Lawz (highest peak, not Maqla[=blackened peak]), and this seems to fit a W. of Sin location at 29° 1'21"N, 35° 3'40"E or further N. up the Midianite coastal plain. With this scenario, the Gulf of Aqaba could be the 2nd Yam Suph stop in Num 33:10, and Nakhl could be Elim. However, the data fits as well with a S. Sinai P. location as well.
@sam3374 -The link for the fort was for one of the N. Sinai forts mentioned in the Hoffmeier lecture I mentioned. They were part of a series stretching along the N. Sinai coast as far as Gaza, and had no relation to the S. Sinai P. Egyptian mines. As for Galatians, see the response I wrote at my Wordpress blog (same name as my channel's). I am not too sure about Philo. In any case, he has no precedence over the Bible. I viewed the film several times.

I read what was written in wordpress thanks for that, but it seems conjecture rather than evidence. Lets go to the bible for this then, in exodus 2:15 moses went to midian. You said midian is modern day saudi arabia (correct me if im wrong). In ex 3:1 moses was watching his father in law's sheep. So using logic, since jethro lived in midian you think moses would go into the sinai penn crossing a portion of northern sinai to get to the south (i'm assuming you think sinai is in the south penn)...

...Most likely moses was still in midian, I mean it says back desert, he would of had to go through egypt's territory again to get to the southern sinai. He was in midian when the lord told him to return into egypt (ex 4:19). In kings 9:26 the yam suph is located near elath or eloth which is the near the gulf of aqaba. I mean i found no verse that says sinai or horeb is in midian fair enough but i think the author didn't because the location was pretty clear.

@sam3374 -It is true there is no certain evidence for or against a Midianite location for Mt. Sinai. While there is no evidence of Midianite (NW Saudi Arabian; you read me right) pastoralists moving their herds to the Sinai during the dry season, there is an equal lack of evidence of any non-poetic mention of Midian, or even Edom and Paran on the journey to or from Sinai. However, I think the biblical data is unambiguous in regard to the location of Shur on the Suez side of the Sinai P.

I looked at numbers 33:10 and this seems to be the same body of water, this does not show there to be two yam suphs. The israelites seem to have encamped more south of aqaba. , I mean if there were 2 yam suphs then your point would be valid but the scriptures don't agree with you on that. I mean the first body of water they crossed was called yam suph, then allegedly theres another one, I mean Solomon built his ships on the yam suph, and the first description of the crossing site was a sea...

... also before i go on i take it you believe mount sinai is in the south penn, and you believe the crossing site to be a lake or something near goshen?
