  • that being said 2009 had the largest pink salmon run in recorded history!! Showing zero correlation between the level of fish farming which has remained constant for the past 20 years. Can someone please explain to me HOW if Salmon Farming is so detrimental and destructive they were to have a record run for 2009?

  • The supposed sockeye sea lice epidemic is a joke! Any "credible" scientist will tell you that sockeye are unaffected by seal lice. Even among pink salmon DFO studies have shown there is zero mortality rate to fish larger then.5 of a gram!! Fish entering the ocean are far greater size then this.

  • The Pacific Salmon Forum PSF - a non-biased scientific body ordered to look into the sea lice issue found that the studies Morton was citing (her own), were incorrect. Co-author Marty Krkosek agreed. Morton and Krkosek were asked to “recalibrate”. She concluded that “the survival of the pink salmon cohort was not statistically different from a reference region without salmon farms.” That’s right – no extinction. Not even a difference.

  • @ecophilia Dont drink water... It is a main part of cement.

  • A vet signature doesn't change toxicity. Emamectin benzoate (active ingred in slice) is used as a garden pesticide and the label says not to use near water...sounds pretty toxic. Re pink salmon of course there are other impacts. Re DFO study that shows pinks < .5 grams not affected...interesting given that they were only exposed to sea lice for a couple of hours, and in the wild they are exposed repeatedly as they pass the farms for weeks and even months. Sea lice can also be a disease vector.

  • @ecophilia Just saw on the news that pink returns this year are very low. (2010). Reason being? Flooding of the rivers during the fry stage of the Pinks. Can you show me any studies that prove slice is toxic when the prescription was signed buy a veterinarian.

  • Fraser River Sockeye return 2010 35 million WOW!!!

  • Pink salmon came back in good numbers as they had low lice levels near the farms when they went out in 2008 (due to toxic SLICE use), whereas the sockeye returning this year went out in 2007 and were riddled with lice near the farms. The fish farms are treating for low lice levels in March for pink and chum, but the lice climb back up by the time the sockeye come out of the rivers. There is NO science that says sockeye are not affected by sea lice...why wouldn't they be?

  • When is Alexandra going to tell the public who funds her ? Who's paying her bills to spread lies.
