FW190-D9 (Early) and P47-D in networked dogfight. P47 takes offensive position as from beginning it has some advantage in altitude. FW190 dives to gain speed and executes snap roll to the left. Because of sudden slow down of FW190, P47 overshoots it. Eventually FW190 gains good firing position and kills pilot of P47.

The "Snap roll" is a maneuver that involves stalling the wing and forcing it to rotate at the same time. The roll rate is generally much faster than what can be done with the ailerons alone. This is abrupt maneuver: in case of left roll, one should pull stick, apply full left aileron and full left rudder (all 3 control surfaces at the same time). Near the completion of roll, one should apply neutral stick and full opposite rudder to stabilize the plane. Failing to do so, one is risking to enter a spin.

  • Nice vid:)

But couldn't the 'Bolt have evaded you after you got on his tail?

Looks like it was just sitting dumbly there as you took that shot...

  • Probably he didn't realize how close I was and how little I was slower than him.

  • I see that you were almost in stall durin maneuver. Try to do a clean movement.

  • You can't do snap roll without stalling one of the wings. That one wing stall is with purpose - to increase roll rate dramatically.

  • @ZaltysZ seeing this i would have instantly engaged wep and pulled up going into a verticle climb you were out of E with that move then i would have fallen right onto your 6, lol

  • @cut76

That out of E was 450km/h after snap roll.

  • that manoeuvre was awesome! thanks for sharing!!

  • this game is half assed, "innocent aces", bears no realistic accounts of the abilities of the planes.

  • realism ftw lol blue tracers :P

  • i think the D-9 was a little more nimble than the Jug anyhow, but the jug could take a beating... snap rolls and stuff are good maneuvers, Mustangs had slight instability and could do crazy things to break enemy aircraft off there tail, snap rolls are one of the things they could easily do...

  • Can somebody tell me how to achieve a snap roll in IL2? THX

  • This is one of the maps i don't like...

  • @koelschwolf Cologne ...beautiful town. I rememeber being there in the early 70's as a kid and seeing the cathedral. Very unusual to see on the train station side many partially/ completely missing small statues and gargoilds that got damaged due to what I 'understood' was to leave the church alone but take out the train station. Germany , what a beautiful place ...Black Forest , like being in a fairy tale...

  • i like it
