Correct no pass no entry
The chapel to the right (entrance by the columns) is the Cappella St Anna the
chapel for Vatican guard and citizens of the Vatican State
I was at mass there in 2006 on pilgrimage it took weeks to organize
But still one of the high lights of out trip to Rome Such a splendid chapel
ornate but very peaceful

This road leads to where the Papal offices are. The pope literally does his daily business just down that road. No one who doesn't have business there gets in. No one gets past that guy there. I know, I was there.
