I got Jacks, Jewels, Firemouths, lots of assorted ciclids and tin foil barbs in my 55 gallon tank for 2 years and no casualties at all. You either luck out and they get along or one goes mental and kills the rest. Just because one dude has bad luck don't mean someone else will. If you have one troublesome fish take him out and the rest should be ok.

ps be prepared to lose ur firemouth as i lost mine he was killed so unless u got a bigger tank to move them to u will have problems, oscars and jags grow very quickly, got my oscars in feb this year and they were 1 inch now one is 9 and the other 7 plenty of raw prawns blood worm earth worms cooked chicken and they will grow like fuck

nice tank got a similar set up myself, i got 2 GT m/f, convict male, jack dempsey female, albino oscar and tiger oscar m/f, convict, red zebra male whos bosses they tank at the minute gt is a shit house, 2 yellow labs m/f, 4 hi breeds, 2 angel fish m/f and a female jag which i breed wit my buddies male, nice tank
