I remember this chat show. God, it was dull. Did Kate have a book to promote? Every other guest who appeared on that show did.

She had a record to promote - her song on the Elton John tribute album "Two Rooms". She has cited Elton as an influence on her piano playing and songwriting. Also, her mother Hannah was apparently a fan of this show.
