  • Hey I Actually Seen This Thing I live in Central Wi I Saw It Plane as Day right in front of me 10.08 pm , It was BRIGHT green looked like it was coming in at a 20 degree angle like a jet landing, It wasnt fast like any meteor i've ever seen and it was very low almost in the clouds, It was pretty slowI cannot get over how green this thing was!

  • @MrChief1up - when meteors or asteroids enter Earth's atmosphere at a shallow angle, they will appear to move slowly across the sky because their trajectory is more parallel to the ground than quick-moving meteors that plunge almost straight down. Do a YouTube search on the Great Daylight Fireball of 1972 for some sweet footage of a similar asteroid that occurred during daylight... however, instead of hitting Earth, it skipped off the atmosphere and went back out into space.

  • Before anyone says anything stupid, I'd just like to point out that you can tell the composition of a burning object by the color of the flame. This one is iron.

  • @Digeridude - Indeed -- too many people have said stupid things about this fireball all over Twitter and YouTube. As an aside, before I first saw any clips of the meteor, I was predicting the size of the object would have been between baseball and basketball size -- some recent estimates are saying that it might have been between basketball-size and 3 feet long.
