so stop defending our country..it was biggest mistake ever make by our government...be proud that we have realize it and we have help japan to build again..and pray this never happen to us or any other country in world...

second reason, we didn't jut use one nuclear bomb..but two.without giving japanese govrnmnt to surrendr..which means all of this was just an EXPERIMENT for our government.. experiment of first ever nuclear bomb...2 types of bomb(uranium and plutonium),so why 2 attacks..if govrnmnt was just interested in victory they wud hv used only 1..but they wanted to EXPERIMENT 2 weapons on thousands of innocent people..so they did't kill innocent to win wars like japan, they kill innocent for experiments..

they say biggst homicide evr committed ws by Hitler..if you know your history biggest homicide was committed by us americans...we killed "innocent civilians" not the many reason I hated out attack (although no of innocent lives would make us biggest homicide in history of human being)..there are many other reasons..first of all if smaller or weaker nation uses nuclear as their last option of victory, it is understandable..we could have defeated japan without using nuclear with military power.

Saved more than it killed.

No one understands the emotion behind us dropping the nukes in WWII, we needed to avenge the deaths of those at Pearl Harbor and the 700 some odd men that drowned to death, sure the 2nd nuke may of been a little much but no one can comprehend the emotion that was involved in WWII and never will so we can never say if it was necessary or not to use nukes. Sure now days we say it was uncalled for but back then it was totally called for.

To all the folks saying 'civilians shouldn't be involved'.. whilst I agree, reality is different.
Placing military installations in densely populated areas is a very common tactic of unscrupulous governments in times of war.
Using civilians as a cover/shield for the military is just as bad as dropping the bombs themselves.
If you want to paint blame on the US, equal blame should also be placed on the Japanese in this instance.
It was a terrible war for all involved.

I know an old boy that flew along side the bombing run and later was the first on the ground. I dont know if that had anything to do with it, but he was one of the best men I ever knew....
Here's to you Art

I know the Japanese killed thousands of innocent civilians ,and Truman sent out a warning to them, do you really think many of them even got the message or tried to get out? I'm just saying can you think of how many civilians Fat Man and Little Boy(Hiroshima Bomb)killed?I'm just expressing my opinion, although the Japanese did have what was coming to them.

@LocustaVampa Tell that to the women the Japanese raped over and over again in Nanking. Or to the babies they used as bayonet practice. Or the civilians that threw themselves off cliffs because they were told the Americans would do far worse. Or the prisoners of war who were tortured and starved to death while Americans citizens complained that the POWs we took ate better than they did. I agree that nukes should not be used, but you need to get your shit straight.

@LocustaVampa I agree about the nukes, and I hope they are never used again.... just don't get the defense of Japan who was the aggressor in this war, and the damnation of America who clearly responded in self defense. And just haaad to straighten up the "Japanese military was not interested in killing civilian populations" non sense, cuz they most certainly were, and they sought Imperialism, not military superiority.
