This is the subwoofer I use with my PC, a Velodyne Impact Mini. It's got the same beefy 6.5" driver as the Velodyne MicroVee, but instead of the MicroVee's 1000W (2000W peak) amplifier and 9" cube form factor, the Impact Mini has an enclosure about the size of the brawnier MiniVee (11" by 11") and only a 180W amplifier that can do 300W in short bursts. Also compared to the MiniVee, the Impact Mini has less deep-bass response, and isn't as effortlessly musical, but it's a decent complement to my NuForce Icon-1 and S-1 system that handles the rest of the range. Active crossover functionality is handled by my PC's ASUS Xonar D2 sound card - without it, the system couldn't handle the punishment of this Saturn V first-stage engine test clip without risking damage to the pricey NuForce S-1 speakers. The combination makes a potent and crystal-clear audio system for the desktop, with bass that will put any Logicrap system to shame. Another video will follow, showing the Impact Mini's down-firing 8" passive radiator. (The grainy video is due to shooting in low light with a digital still camera.) Try the test track on your system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3sVuFjJlp4

  • can you please tell me about impact 12 i was looking for it for my ht

  • Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Velodyne Impact 12. However, from what I've heard at the Fry's, it's a very solid subwoofer for not a whole lot of cash.

  • @SmallRoomBigSound - I only said "Logicrap" because I was tired of seeing people on PC forums asking what the best speakers are for their PC and listening habits, and everyone else coming out of the woodwork and saying "Logitech Z-2300! Logitech Z-560!" and so on, when one can do quite a bit better for a little more money, even among small powered "PC" speakers.
