So much harder than it looks, and no room for error, overhead is a strange b*tch; deads, squats and military presses are my best friends, but overhead squat is a tough strange b*tch. RESPECT.

jesus bro that is actually hella impressive! can you give me some tips on how to get a big over head squat? i just want to be able to do it with bodyweight really, but i really suck at them! thanks

The key to a big overhead squat is all in the position of the bar in relation to your center line (looking from the side). You need to adjust the bar position as you go down, and again as you go up. The bar needs to be placed just behind the ears and you really need to "look through" and commit to the position. also, there is a big difference between reaching up with you shoulder muscles and your trapezius muscles. Try to elevate your shoulders enough to try and "cover your ears."

I know I don't really demonstrate the "cover the ears" really well in this video, but just look how hard it was! In my more recent overhead squat video, my position was much better, thus making a much easier triple. Hope this helps and good luck.

great lift! great depth, u must work alot on shoulder and hip flexibility to get that low with that amount of weight above head, really impressive core strength with the control aswell, whats your 1rm in conventional squat?

I actually don't know at the moment, I havn't done a 1rm in the squat for a loooonng time. I found that it took too much out of me and took away from my olympic stuff. I should probably get around to that at some point. (and I'll probably post it on youtube).
